Vitamin D has been shown to have protective effects against breast cancer, and the same seems to be true for prostate cancer, another type of hormone-related cancer. It has been shown that vitamin D exerts antiproliferative and antimetastatic effects on human prostate cells. Several studies have concluded that low levels of UV exposure and vitamin D are associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer.
