MORE ON POMEGRANATE JUICE.
A new study published in October 2005 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Early Edition shows why pomegranates should be part of every man's menu. The reason? The juice from the red kernels has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, capable of fighting prostate cancer. Laboratory studies have shown that pomegranate juice extract is capable of slowing cancer progression, lowering the PSA level, and inducing the synthesis of two powerful tumour-fighting proteins. The study's authors suggested that pomegranate juice may excercise chemo-preventative effects, in combination with its chemo- therapeutic ones - hence the recommended use for human consumption.
