(This information is provided by The Center For Integrated Healing, Vancouver, B.C.) A very interesting study was published this month in the Clinical Cancer Research Journal - a study of the use of pomegranate juice for the treatment of prostate cancer. The researchers found that drinking 8 ounces of pomegranate juice resulted in a slowing of the rise of PSA in patients who had a recurrence after conventional treatment (surgery or radiation), indicating that pomegranate juice may be helpful in the treatment of prostate cancer. A larger, randomized control trial is now underway.
Based on this early study, pomegranate juice may be helpful for men with prostate cancer. If you are on high blood pressure medication, please use pomegranate juice with caution. If you are taking prescription medications, pomegranate juice may, theoretically, affect the absorbtion of some medications.
